Mica is a mined product of India which varies slightly in color but primarily within a range of intensities of ruby or green. The color tends to vary from mine to mine, region to region. The most common binder for this product is shellac which gives the plate an amber appearance. It too is a naturally occurring material and is subject to variations from light orange to dark amber in color.
The uniqueness and variability of the product has proven to be appealing. We also use an epoxy base resin which is more or less colorless and allows the natural appearance of the raw mica to shine.
